CrossControl aims to allow OEMs the ability to develop smart device apps for equipment interaction.

Swedish human-machine interface (HMI) provider CrossControl said it is introducing a solution for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to create smart device apps that will allow different stakeholders to interact with the equipment. All signals and data available over the equipment fieldbus system will be made available for the use in both the onboard display and in the smart device apps. Software reuse is made possible by developing and onboard user interface and apps for Android, Windows or iOS in the same tool.

“By integrating a smart device – a smartphone or a tablet – with the vehicle control system, OEMs can offer the end user a range of value-adding functions”, said Mats Kjellberg, head of Marketing at CrossControl. “One example of smart device integration is a remote display app, which presents the vehicle information to, for example, the work site manager or the operator when he is not in the vehicle cab.”
