Incoming regulations will require all electronic devices, including on-board computing solutions, to meet stringent new requirements. A secure machine will become a must have rather than a differentiating feature and the implementation needs to cover the life cycle of the machine. This necessitates a platform, like CrossControl’s, that supports and enables regular updates, as well as meeting other newly introduced requirements.
Good security is a process rather than a single, fixed solution. CrossControl utilises industry best practices with several key principles for building and deploying a secure platform. We use an iterative process, based on secure by design building blocks, to actively build and maintain system security.
CC Linux 4 introduces new tools to the platform for improving system security. The update framework provides a robust and secure platform that ensures updating the device is always safe and that devices in the field remain operational even in case the update fails for a power outage, network error or a storage failure. It also provides a more secure system in which devices remain under the control of OEM and unauthorized updates cannot be installed.
