Abstract: Following the evolution in the automotive industry, instrumentation and other HMI functions are increasingly implemented using TFT-based display devices. The benefits - flexibility and more elaborate operator support functions - are indisputable. But how to address functional safety? We will present case studies on how functional Safety was implemented in display computers and concepts for achieving functional safety in digital instrumentation displays - safe tell-tales implemented in software.
