The Software revolution is changing the approach to implementing user interaction, where in the past a monolith software implementation has caused burdens in software maintenance. Cabins featuring multiple, independent, HMI devices has resulted in a fragmented user experience that can lead to operator overload and increased risk. Now designers can select a common platform that provides the size and capability range to deliver solutions for all use cases and create a harmonised user experience that address these issues. CrossControl’s open approach to software design means that Customers are not limited to a proprietary operating system and the need to recode applications in only one language but are supported in developing the solution they need by working with, not against, the resources and skills they already have.

The foundation of CrossControl’s software platform for machine intelligence is LinX Core which provides API and application environments for both our ARM and x86 devices. LinX Core includes CC Linux, as well as all the necessary firmware to enable complete platform functionality. Optionally available on top of LinX Core is the LinX Software Suite which is a well packaged application toolchain based on Linux and Qt. It offers a variety of development approaches including Qt, HTML5 and CODESYS with a wealth of library support. Additionally, CrossControl provides prebuilt modules to enable commonly required functionality. The modules can be added to any application, at either the OS or application level, to help speed up development and accelerate time to market. Examples of application modules include, Camera, which allows for the easy integration of Ethernet cameras and is tested across a range of leading brands, Web Browser, for HTML5 support and accessing information from any web server, and ISOBUS UT which enables fast realization of an ISOBUS Universal Terminal application.

With the CrossControl software platform, System designers can choose which level of platform support they want to base their solution on based on their project needs. With state-of-the-art hardware and powerful software tools CrossControl offers a complete platform for HMI and on-board computing solutions that meets the needs of the coming industry trends.
